We have been using Square for about two years, and this problem comes up repeatedly. Often when a customer makes a return we want to give them their money back in cash or issued onto a gift card. Problems arise: If they used a check for the original transaction square only lets you refund to "check" which makes no sense, I don't even understand what they think that means (do they think we are writing the customer a check?!) We usually want to be able to issue a cash refund in that situation, if the amount isn't vey high. If they used a gift card, the system only lets us put the credit back on that card, but most of the time they don't have the card any more, so that option that is useless.  Many of our customers offer to take store credit even if they are entitled to cash. But we can't do that (even though it would be better for us), if they paid a different way.  Please give us more flexibility so that we can issue cash or store credit (i.e., gift card) refunds when that it the option that makes most sense under the circumstances.  ... Hello! Recently my inventory tracking has changed. Now every new item I create is automatically listed as "available". To change this, I have to take the extra step FOR EVERY SINGLE ITEM of changing the tracking from "track by availability" to "track by stock count". There is literally nothing in my retail store that is permanently available, so having everything marked as available as soon as I enter it is not useful to me. I think this (like many of your recent updates) is more geared for restaurants. I would like to permanently default on every new item to "track by stock count". Please tell me there is a way to do this. Otherwise you've just added a time-consuming extra step to my process. My old system would show me when an item was already on order as I was creating a PO so that I didn't duplicate orders for things that were on backorder with my vendors.  (And these days there seem to be a lot of things on backorder with the vendors!) In Square, I cannot see that information unless I run an entirely separate report and reference that alongside the PO. It causes me to waste a lot of time! Items are often on backorder with the vendor, and then I mistakenly order them again, and then we have to spend time sorting out the duplicate orders.    There was a message about this from January that seemed to suggest Square was working on a new feature, but that comment is closed to replies so I am posting this idea again.    It's just one of the many things I've found cause my work to take longer and be less efficient with Square. We have been using Square for Retail for about two years. One of the things that we used to have in our old system and that I really miss is the ability to remove inventory for more reasons, such as for in-house use. We've been selecting "Loss" when the real reason is in-house use, and then we have to remember that when we look at the report. This isn't ideal, of course, and -- most importantly -- when we make a mistake and take something out using "Loss" and then need to put it back, Square doesn't let us use a negative number as "Loss," so we have to return the items using a different code. So then the report is no longer accurate, because the original cost under Loss hasn't been offset.    Please give us the ability to create our own reasons, the ability to make positive or negative numbers when adjusting, or an "In-house" use reason that allows for both positive and negative numbers.   ... I want to stop using pennies in my Square POS over-the-counter sales.  This is due to the new national policy to stop minting pennies.  I could set my prices to the nearest nickel, dime, or quarter, (which I have done before) but when %discounts are taken into account, there will always be some cash sales that will need pennies for change.  We are not going to stop offering % discounts for various good reasons.  I want Square Register to have an option to round the change to the nearest nickel, since pennies are going 'obsolete' in the US.   My employees could theoretically do this manually, except for 2 reasons:  the numbers won't add up at the end of the day (the register count will always be 'off'), and also that you would be surprised how many young people can't do simple math, or perform simple concepts like 'rounding'.    Currently, when I apply a percentage discount, the SquareUp POS must already round to the closest penny.  That's just math.  If they can round to the nearest penny, then it can be made to round to the nearest nickel also. ...
