Bookable resources with availability NOT tied to team member availability

I've been trying to set up golf simulator bay bookings with Square Appointments. We need all three bays to be bookable during the same time frame, but we don't need separate staff members for each.

Here's the current situation: Let's say I set up services like Bay1, Bay2, and Bay3. To allow these to be bookable in Square Appointments, they need to be assigned to a staff member. Then, if someone books Bay1 from 9-10, this time period shows as unavailable (even though Bay2 and Bay3 are technically available)

Request: either allow multiple bookings per team member (probably with a user-defined limit somewhere in settings)

OR allow resources/items to have their own availability rules / not tied to staff.

This would be ideal for services like meeting room rentals, equipment rentals, bowling alleys, yoga classes, etc where 1 booking does not require exclusive and undivided staff attention OR where a single staff member can accept multiple bookings during the same time period.

This is an excellent suggestion for businesses that book equipment, rooms, golf bays, studios, or other resources rather than individual employees.

Allowing resources to manage their own availability independently, or allowing staff members to oversee multiple resources simultaneously, would make Square Appointments much more flexible for a wider range of industries. This enhancement could open the platform to many businesses that currently need workarounds or other scheduling software.

You could try setting up each bay as a bookable team member and assigning it only to its matching service. Each bay gets its own schedule, so customers could book all three bays at 9 a.m. without tying up an actual staff member’s calendar.

Square gives the bay profile credit for the sale, so I’d check how you handle tips. You can turn off “Tip eligible” for the bay. If you use tip pooling, you can set Square to split unassigned tips among eligible staff who worked that day.

It’s extra admin, but it might work until Square adds this feature.
