Ability to search transactions by name on square register

Currently on Square Register (unlike with ipad and possibly other devices) there is no way to search transactions by name. This is a necessary function for any restaurant for whom a customer name, entered by the server before sending items, is the only way to connect the customer to their order. There are no POS systems for restaurants that I know of where you cannot look up the check by name. Here are just a few reasons why we do this at our shop regularly throughout a typical day:

-Customer returns to shop or calls in and states that they did not receive an item that they paid for in cash. The customer did not print a receipt.

-We need to refire a ticket for a customer who did not receive their order for some reason.

-Customer calls in to request an emailed receipt for their order from earlier in the day.

On an ipad, square for restaurants has this very basic functionality. The Square Register can't do it. This needs to change. I am having to install an ipad at the shop, next to my registers, just so I can look up checks by name.

Its been two months and  still crickets here. I would love to know why square register has this problem. Is it being worked on? I have installed a separate iPad next to my register just to look up checks. That's ridiculous. Will this be fixed?

Thanks

I see this was posted over 2 years ago… we just purchased square register and can’t believe that this isn’t an option when it was on our ipad retail app. What’s the progress on this? If it isn't coming soon we maybe returning our register hardware…

It would be extremely helpful to have the ability to search by phone number, name, notes, or item on the Square Register.  Never understood why some of the options available in the Square app on iPads and other devices are missing from the Square Register!
