Ability to delete locations

I made a mistake and added an extra location. I do not want it in my drop down selection boxes. I want to remove the extra location not just deactive it! I want it gone!

To be able to permanently delete a location

As a new user of Square I try out new features, I accidentally added a location because my first location had issues linking to google. It's frustrating to not be able to delete the location when I entered it as a sample location. I also don't have a physical location for my business so I don't want extra locations there because it creates confusion for bookkeeping purposes. There should be a feature to completely just delete the location. I know there is an inactive feature but I don't want to see the location there.

 

I have same issue with invoices too as I created a wrong invoice which was sent then cancelled and is unable to delete which again affects my financial statements. 

 

Square should be more flexible and allow users to learn and make mistakes and then delete it.

I am frustrated with the location option. I am the owner and some how I am listed as the location. Now I cannot see my inventory or update my inventory. I am afraid to deactivate location for myself because I am concerned I may lose everything. All I want to do is see my inventory and update it.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with this, @HeyShay; I can see how not being able to delete a location would cause confusion and added steps to your workflow. I went to check on this and there are not any updates that I can share out. While there isn't another workaround we can offer, I will be raising your post to our Point of Sale Team. Apologies for the frustration—keep in touch for updates.

I see the, "we hear your concern, please see Kelly's response", but almost 2 years after the thread was started, this problem still exists. So, I guess it's time to start making noise on social platforms about it.

Hello @WantToDeleteLoc, currently you can deactivate a location from your Square Dashboard under Account & Settings. At this time we do not have the ability to delete a location. 

Thanks Chad, that's exactly why I posted my comment above.  Deactivation is not sufficient.

I literally just tried to click the kudos under the last comment and it sent me to a screen to choose my location. How dumb is that? Deactivating doesn't do anything.

@LovesMyKansas, it sounds like your were browsing the threads while signed out. The Seller Community requires you to sign in to give kudos. If you aren't signed in and click kudos it will send you to the login page. 

So frustrating. Just starting Square.  On the steps to check off to complete my setup it tells me to add another location.  So I messed around with it, realized I don't need it, but now it's messing with my speadsheets and now everything is asking me which location I am at... Should I just delete and start over??????

Sorry for the frustration this has caused @DanielleCI! If you deactivate that location you won't see it from the list of options when you sign in.

 

For your reporting you can uncheck that location from the selector at the top of the Dashboard (beside the date selector) and that location will not be included in your reports.

I just missed the 2 year anniversary of this thread. While I think Square is one of the best for payments, it doesn't look good for future when what seems like a simple change can't be made after 2 years. If you are not moving forward, then you are going backwards. There are many companies that are eager to take your customers and I will be researching them more in the near future to see if they work for me.

 

Just to make this post (after logging into my account) I had to choose a LOCATION before continuing. I added locations to test and they are inactive now, but that doesn't help anything.

 

 

We are using an app called Dubsado for client management, contracts, invoices etc.  Through this program, we are able to connect to square and have clients pay their invoices. We did a trial run and it didn't work, why? Because the payment went to an inactive location. Neither square or dubsado know how to reroute the payment to our active location. Therefor we can not use this feature. ..... awesome. Deleting the location would solve that problem, but apparently, that's not possible.
