Ability to delete locations

I made a mistake and added an extra location. I do not want it in my drop down selection boxes. I want to remove the extra location not just deactive it! I want it gone!

To be able to permanently delete a location

As a new user of Square I try out new features, I accidentally added a location because my first location had issues linking to google. It's frustrating to not be able to delete the location when I entered it as a sample location. I also don't have a physical location for my business so I don't want extra locations there because it creates confusion for bookkeeping purposes. There should be a feature to completely just delete the location. I know there is an inactive feature but I don't want to see the location there.

 

I have same issue with invoices too as I created a wrong invoice which was sent then cancelled and is unable to delete which again affects my financial statements. 

 

Square should be more flexible and allow users to learn and make mistakes and then delete it.

I am frustrated with the location option. I am the owner and some how I am listed as the location. Now I cannot see my inventory or update my inventory. I am afraid to deactivate location for myself because I am concerned I may lose everything. All I want to do is see my inventory and update it.

There are 137 comments.  Thats a good bit for something that only requires a delete button to wipe a data base entry somewhere.   

 

Add me to the list of people who dont understand why you cant delete locations from the before time when everyone was first learning to use square.   

 

Please add a delete to locations option. This makes things complicated in a time where apps sync together. 

Allow us to delete locations

We need to be able to delete locations, not just disable, to avoid any confusion. Especially when a location was added by mistake.

I added a location when setting up my account by accident as I was learning.  I would love to get rid of it to eliminate confusion!

how will it benefit???  Just asking that question shows a level of being out of touch. 

 

The fact that it has been heavily requested makes it something that is desired by the users. 

 

If we can create them, why cant they be removed by us.  This causes a bit of confusion and is just a poor design and is a bit ridiculous that it hasn't been addressed to this point

There's lots of Feature Requests we all would like to see actually happen.   Deleting a location that's no longer needed or has been created by mistake makes sense.  Same for deleting a Test Invoice and/or a Test Transaction.  Some of us are naturally curious and we want to try out some of the various functions to see how they work but, then we find out that what ever we do becomes a part of our Account History for ever.  There's a few other features that we should have control of - case in point - on the Checkout Screen there's an option to input a Coupon - it's on by default - you cannot hide it or turn it off.  If you don't offer coupons, why have that option available.  I could go on but, why waste everyone's time - I think you see my point.  I'm guessing there's reasons for not implementing some of these Feature Requests, in most cases we don't really know what they are.  Just a thought here but, instead of having someone state the benefits of Feature Request, perhaps the programmers and/or administrators in charge should provide some solid reasons as to why a popular Feature Request is not going to implemented.

I would like to delete the second one made on accident because when I am editing the inventory for an item, the inventory for the deactivated location is accidentally updated.  Since it is deactivated, it should not even appear when I am updating inventory!  It is so maddening and wastes my time having to edit multiple times!

I created one to test the feature as well; I was also wanting to add a printing business to my store but it didn't pan out. If you guys can do a delete or even an archive function, that would help.

Unfortunately, neither the Community or Tech Support (that we know of) can help with your request.   Tech Support can do quite a bit however, it seems that "Locations" cannot be deleted - best you can do is "deactivate" it.  Some features are part of your Square Account History and you are limited as to what you can do with them.   As previously mentioned, deleting a Test Invoice and/or a Test Transaction is not possible.  Many of us like to keep our accounts clean but, we are limited as to what we can or cannot do.

Thank you for opening this subject to maybe become a feature.  I also created a Location to test if I could use it as a Wholesale type of location etc.  Never used it, never added any items to it and there is no reports for it since I have been with Square in 2019.  I do understand there might be others that have data that might need to have it archived or something similar.  But please allow the ability to delete a Location that has no transactions at minimum. 

 

@JK_Fiber_Art ,  just an FYI this is the Ideate board for requests for a new feature.... such as the ability to delete a Location that we cannot do.    I know your trying to help and I do the same thing once and a while where I miss where something is posted.  But you can always Like the Original posters request to Delete Locations   🙂 while you are here.
