Ability to delete locations

I made a mistake and added an extra location. I do not want it in my drop down selection boxes. I want to remove the extra location not just deactive it! I want it gone!

To be able to permanently delete a location

As a new user of Square I try out new features, I accidentally added a location because my first location had issues linking to google. It's frustrating to not be able to delete the location when I entered it as a sample location. I also don't have a physical location for my business so I don't want extra locations there because it creates confusion for bookkeeping purposes. There should be a feature to completely just delete the location. I know there is an inactive feature but I don't want to see the location there.

 

I have same issue with invoices too as I created a wrong invoice which was sent then cancelled and is unable to delete which again affects my financial statements. 

 

Square should be more flexible and allow users to learn and make mistakes and then delete it.

I am frustrated with the location option. I am the owner and some how I am listed as the location. Now I cannot see my inventory or update my inventory. I am afraid to deactivate location for myself because I am concerned I may lose everything. All I want to do is see my inventory and update it.

This is not a good answer. Making locations permanent and not providing any way to set the default location in the account (eg for API transactions) is simply bad business. I set up a 2nd location just to test the feature and now I can't get rid of it and my API transactions are getting attached to that location. It's just silly that I can't delete it. Please fix this!

I agree. I made the same mistake of trying out adding a location. HUGE mistake. I can't undo this.

I agree that we should be able to switch back to a single location account if we so choose.. I have to choose between four locations anytime I do anything, but I really only have one location..

Bruh...this shouldn't be difficult. Just fix create the option to delete the location. It's a pain to have to manage a "phantom" location.

Add me to the list of frustrated users. Perhaps some better documentation on the Location feature page? Also, if letting users revert back to a single location is untenable, why not offer a default location option, this seems a reasonable compromise. I didn't fully appreciate the intended use of the Location option when I enabled it. I rent studio space, but I don't own the space. My business is essentially a mobile business with no fixed location. This seems a more appropiate feature for users who own multiple locations.

Agreed! Annoyed by the phantom locations.

 

We should at least be able to hide them!

One more annoyed seller here—can't stop the dashboard from displaying irrelevant info from my disabled location, but also can't set a default location so that I can ignore that useless info. Square, pay attention please. This is a very easily remedied problem, and the kind of thing that, if ignored, makes users switch services.

I am one of the frustrated customers that got the instruction via email to create another location without a warning that once a location is created, it cannot be deleted, and after clicking the save button, the location is created but the page is still there, which makes us think that we are missing info or info is entetered incorrectly, so we go back and change the name of the location not knowing that by doing so, we are creating another permanent location. I have made calls to the support center but apparenty this is still an issue since last year. Square is still not doing anything about it or maybe they are, but this is one of the flaws the whole company has. So to make this issue less frustrating, I have gone back to the inactive locations, I go to every one of them and edit them by deleting all the info in all fields (except State in the address field can't be deleted) and name the nickname under "Inactive 0", " Inactive 1", "inactive 2" and so on. So when we go to our dashboard, it will be less confusing since we only see name of the active location and the others are under "Inactive". Hopefully Square can address this issue sometimes soon. We have faith in you Square! Please get on it! 

I'd like to add my voice to this request. I am a new Square user and was testing this feature to see if it would work for my purposes. It does not, now it is simply a distraction requiring multiple clicks going forward for setting up my account.

 

It would be great to know if this has been addressed by the Square Product team since the original post in April 2016. Thanks!

Couldn't agree more!  Looks like these threads track back to nearly a year ago (May 2016). 

 

PLEASE allow us to delete a location!
