Square Online - Digital downloads from website or automated email

Square Online - Digital downloads from website or automated email

I like that the square online store has an item type for Digital Products, however manual fulfillment of this is not very efficient. Particularly when customers expect instant delivery/access to dogital products.

I would love to see Digital Product with its own customised automated email that we can either include a specific link or file for the customer.

Re: Square Online - Digital downloads from website or automated email

Hello Sellers 👋,

Thank you for your patience regarding this feature request. I understand that this has been a long-standing request here in Australia.

Recently, Square announced an integration with SendOwl, a platform that provides fast and secure automatic fulfilment of digital products to your customers. You can read about our announcement here.

For more details about setting up SendOwl with Square and pricing, please visit this page. If you have any questions about this integration, feel free to reach out.

Hey @Carliep,

Thanks for your feedback! While the distribution of digital goods this feature is not currently available via Online Store, I can see how this would be an incredibly handy feature - I'll pass this feedback on to our product team 🙂

Hi, I am slowly building my website, and I want to combine all of my businesses in one place. Among other things I want to sell my digital art and photos but I can’t find any information about the cloud storage.
Hopefully someone will be able to help me.

Happy 2021 everyone

Hey @Myszka,

Thanks for getting in touch.

At the moment Square Online websites doesn't support digital file downloads - if you wanted to use Square to sell digital art and photography you'd need to manually fulfill the order. I'd generally recommend doing this from an online digital store platform such as Google Drive or Dropbox!

Any news on automatic digital product fulfillment? I'd love to swap to square but can't until this is an option. For now I'm using wordpress with square payment plugin

heyy, how do i add the actual file/product when making a digital product?

thank you 🙂

Hey @thehorsebakery, and also sorry @Tk7 for the delayed reply!

I've moved your messages to this thread where we are tracking feedback for this feature - there's unfortunately no digital download integration at the moment (either on the website or via an automated email).

I'll update this thread if I hear of any changes to how this works, sorry I can't be of more help here for now!

Are there any features within square that do allow for automated email following a purchase? Such as appointment bookings?
I have a digital download program that is available via a private link. I would love to be able to have it sold through our Square account. Currently our system is very clunky and through trybooking just because we already had an account with them and I could navigate the email follow up.
I just thought if there are any similar features already available for services then maybe the development won't be too far away.
The follow up email would be the best as we can then just include a link and information about how to download etc
Thanks

Hi @roundaboutcirc,

Thanks for writing in and welcome to our community 😊

At this time, we don't have a feature that would automatically send out a link for a download after a purchase has been made. We're tracking this feature request here, and will share an update as soon as we have any news!

We appreciate you sharing this feedback, as we implement changes based on suggestions like yours. If you'd like to check out some of the recent updates to Square Online, take a look at our most recent release notes

Hi Seamus,

Does this also extend to PDF files? I’ve uploaded a few on various pages on my site (not just as a digital product in the store). Are visitors able to download PDF’s from other pages? This is super important for my business as I build value by giving away freebies as downloadable files.

Secondly, if a digital product order has to be fulfilled manually - are we given access to a buyer’s contact details? Could we send them a file or download link? I am not familiar with the Google Drive or Dropbox options.

Thanks - Emma

Hey @emmaagars,

Taking over the baton for @Seamus here 🙂

Free PDFs can be downloaded from your website. For paid digital products, you can see your customer's emails so you can send them out a manual link to download the file, or attach it in the email directly. Dropbox, or Google drive would allow you to create a sharable link, so your customers can download the file(s) that way.

I hope this helps!
