Square Retail App

Hi,  I'm brand new to Square and trying to use the Retail App on my phone to take cc sales over the next week or so. (Trying to decide if I will use Square as a POS permanently.)

I don't know how to bring the screen up (in the Retail App) where I enter the customer's cc #.  I've looked at the tutorials but it doesn't show that specific screen on my iphone. (It's only 3 months old so it's pretty current model.) I need to use this in my store tomorrow.

Thank you! for any help.

Hello @TVBLady thanks for your post. When you are in your App, you should see a button at the top that says "keypad". You can manually enter dollar amounts for your sale. Then click "review sale", and then "charge". You then have the option to Manually enter a credit card number. I hope this helps answer your question.

In the future if you use a card reader with your phone or upgrade to a POS, you'll have a very easy time accepting credit card payments. Square is a great company to work with and it makes running your business very easy. Good luck to you and happy selling with Square!

@TVBLadyanother quick note...if you haven't already, you'll want to set up a bank account in your Square account. This is necessary in order to transfer the money that you accept with the Square app into your bank account. Otherwise, that money is just in limbo waiting for a transfer. You can also set up a Square savings account that can help you save for your business.

Hi there @TVBLady,

Thanks for reaching out. I am happy to help.

I just want to confirm if are you not seeing a keypad to enter a custom amount on the Retail app. Or you are not seeing the option to manually enter the customer's card number after you click "Charge."

While others have answered your question, as a fellow retail store owner I highly recommend a Square Register and Square for Retail as it makes my life a lot easier. While there are always things that can be improved the back-end of Square is pretty robust and the item library (where most retailers live 24/7) handles large inventories pretty well. The ability to create an e-commerce site fairly easily is also a huge plus.
