Your clients can now confirm their purchases and pay intuitively and securely thanks to Square Stand’s innovative customer-driven checkout system, featuring a built-in payment terminal and guiding LED lights.

Square Stand has been designed to fit your business and can be used with the free Square Point of Sale, Square for Retail, or Square for Restaurants or Square Appointments.

Finally, you can also connect printers, cash drawers and scanners to your Square Stand, using USB or Ethernet depending on the accessory, or add a dedicated customer display by connecting it to Square Terminal. Check out a full list of our supported hardware on our Support Center.

This is so cool and exciting!

I love that it fits a bunch of different iPads and that everything is all built into one piece without needing a separate reader. So cool!

Love it! Nice improvement hardware team! 😍🥳 Now please also roll out a well-built customer facing Bluetooth connected display that features tap-to-pay, chip insert, and interactive touch screen that works with the iPad solution (not the Android based Square Register).

Looks like an awesome improvement!

Love the design! Well thought out. Should make the checkout process much more streamlined.

I want it!

Looks good - As always UK a little behind.

YAY!  I misplace the reader 10 times a day.  So excited about this upgrade.

Hello — I wanted to give a heads up to anyone following this thread that there's an opportunity to learn more!

Jack Dorsey, Founder & CEO of Block, Inc., and Alyssa Henry, Head of Square, are hosting a discussion on Twitter Spaces about the new Square Stand tomorrow at 9:15am PDT / 12:15 EDT. Complete details here: [Live Discussion] Twitter Spaces: Meet the new Square Stand.

Hopefully you'll be able to tune in!

I seriously just bought a new Square Stand on Monday, so now I really hope they will take it back, because I am going to have to order this one!

Square Champion

Looks good...does it come in white?  Also I like the new feature with the guided LED lights (fancy).  Once we secure our second location we'll have one of these at the front desk 🙂

Right now the Stand Only comes as the image displayed. I agree that a full white unit would look amazing! Thanks for your interest @Stacelyn24

Just got mine. How do we swipe Gift Cards now?

Just got mine... I DO wish that it was wireless like the first generation square stand. Otherwise I love it and I'm super excited to use it for next weekends market event. Anyone know the wattage it takes to power the second gen stand?

I want this... It was like soon as I bought my stand two years ago, the new sleek model came out. So glad I waited Ill get this one.

I immediately ordered two of them since I've been requesting built-in chip and ApplePay for years!  Unfortunately, my hopes were dashed when I discovered it requires constant 110v power 😞

This stand is not an option for my Farmers Markets.  I guess I could bring a high-output battery pack, but my employees would have to ensure they always have a charged battery pack. (I tried a couple of battery packs, but they did not supply enough juice - but I assume there are packs that would?)

Oh, and it has awkwardly designed cables.  Why do we need two cord bricks?  Couldn't the USB ports and charger be in one brick?!

Suggestion: Develop a battery pack that clicks to the bottom.

Can it process offline transactions? That requires swipe right?

Hi @sciabica1936 - Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Square Seller Community👋

According to this Support Article:

"In order to take swipe payments on Square Stand (2nd generation), you’ll need to insert a Square Reader for magstripe into the audio jack on the lower right corner. You may add one to your cart for free when purchasing Stand, purchase separately on Square Shop."

I hope this information is helpful but please do let us know if you have any additional questions.

Alright...  So I purchased two of the new Square stands.  After a week of use, I'm planning on going back to the old stand.

First the pros:
the new Clip/lift on the left side to secure the Ipad.  This is a nice addition, and was sorely needed.

Cons:
FIRST and FOREMOST.  The removal of the magstripe reader.  Horrible decision.  This is what we use CONSTANTLY to start new tickets without having to type in customer's names.  If we were able to get that information from the chip reader it would suffice, but I feel this is a HUGE step backward.  I know, I know, you can add the headphone magstripe reader, but that has two problems within itself.  1. the PLACEMENT!  If the square stand is sitting on top of a counter, cash drawer, anywhere EXCEPT hanging from a wall there really isn't enough room to swipe a card once you add the width of the magstripe reader to the bottom.  You are either running into whatever it is sitting on, or the stand itself.  Very poorly thought out.  It should have been on the TOP of the stand.  Furthermore- the headphone jack....it likes to turn when you try to swipe a card.  A lightning port would have fixed this.

Second- the new stand is heavy that needs constant power to function.  I thought it would charge and I could carry it from table to table to make it more convenient to customers, but no such luck, so it's back to a plain iPad and card reader that I can charge and carry around.  I don't understand why the card reader takes up so much space on the right side of the new stand.  BOTH of those functions are covered in a 2" square by the previous generation chip reader.
The new stand looks sleek, but definitely isn't as functional as the previous one.

@amorano Yes there is totally a headphone jack at the bottom of the stand on the right hand side:

Also, if you really want to be able to move around to tables, the square terminal is the best solution available.  Wireless, chip, stripe, tap, etc...and it can print right there at the table.  The stand is really not meant to be mobile, and as a rule, I try to stay away from swiping any stripe cards if it has a chip so I don't have to worry about chargebacks.

Thanks for sharing your experience.    The magstripe reader being placed into an audio jack adapter that can rotate is just stupid.    We had those on PayPal for phones/tablets 10 years ago and they sucked.

I'll stick with my first generation stands + external chip readers instead.

If you had read my post, I talked about the placement of the headphone jack  and how it isn’t really functional.

I am also fully aware of the advantages of using the chip reader, and as I indicated, we use the mag stripe to open tabs and not have to type in a customer’s info.

However, since you actually have square terminal, can you tell me if you are able to open a new ticket and harvest the name via the mag stripe reader on it?

the swipe is also needed for gift card redemptions unless you want to type in that large number. Agreed the location is impossible to swipe. maybe there's a headphone jack adapter with a swivel. something like this. https://www.sweetwater.com/c812--Adapters?highlight=GPP273&mrkgadid=&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=&mrkgbflag=&mr...

We've switched our shop over to the register but ran into one of these on a road trip a few weeks back. Was a nice experience, this is a good move, a solid improvement, and still accessible price.
