When a product barcode doesn’t match an item in your catalog, Square Point of Sale now plays a clear audio alert so your team knows it wasn’t added to the sale. This update helps retail sellers spot catalog gaps in real time, train staff to verify every scan, and ensure every item is paid for. Available globally in version 6.82 for all devices and locales with both built-in and external barcode scanners.

Nifty feature. Sometimes its the simplest of thing.

Hi, I just tested this and it makes the same exact sound when I scan a barcode for an item in the system vs one that is not found.  I have the Square register 1st generation (purchased Oct 2024).  I also have the same problem that cashiers continue to scan items while the error message is on the screen and don't realize until they look up to complete the cart.
