👋 Hello, sellers! We have an upcoming testing opportunity, for US only at this time.
Who? This feature would be most applicable for sellers doing counter service - no printed auth slips, and tipping enabled.
What? We will be introducing the ability for sellers to customize their checkout flow so customers are prompted to enter a tip before they swipe/tap/dip their card. This will be a setting within F&B modes only to start.
Why?
By switching the order of these actions in Checkout, it reduces the likelihood that customers will walk away after payment and forget to make a selection in the tip UI.
Additionally, since items are not sent to the kitchen until a tip selection is made, we expect this to increase the speed in which items are sent to the kitchen, ultimately decreasing fulfillment times.

Oh I like this idea! I hardly do in person transactions now that I've closed retail but I'm sure it will be great for those that do.

I'll test it out at one of our locations. I just lost a tip this weekend as the customer left once they tapped their card & saw the green ok...

It sounds like a really efficient way to alienate more of my customers. I still consider tipping voluntary. I don't think they'll like me holding their drinks hostage for a gratuity.
Same! Maybe this works for other businesses, but it's not for us. I'm going to have to pass on this one.
