Turning off "all future locations" for a item

Looking for some advice.  My organisation is using square across many sites which all sell different things.  some are cafe's some sell handmade items.  The problem I have is when a person sets up an item square automatically defaults to on for "all future locations".  unless the person goes back in an turns it off then it is appearing in new sites menus. 

Is there a way to turn what seems a default setting off?

I took a look in the item creation flow on Dashboard, and I didn't find an option to change the default for locations. This would be a feature request. I’ll share this with our Product Team, as they are constantly improving our products based on feedback like this.
