with the new USA tariff rules, each item under 800 now has a tariff fee. its 10% plus 50 p of the order value. i have been having to email my customers asking for more money for tariff fees as i can't add this to the website as a set percentage increase for only one country (the usa)

Be aware that the new tariff is based on the order value AND the Country of Origin (not where it is dispatched from) plus the Royal Mail 50p charge. e.g. we sell hand dyed yarn - we buy it from a wholesaler in UK but it is originally milled in Italy so the tariff is 15%. I wish Square would add this functionality to the sales process for orders originating in the USA

As I see it, the Country of Origin would be the main obstacle for Square. In my case, it could not be recorded at the Item level but would need to be recorded against each Modifier but that might not be the case for other sellers. There would then be the need to determine the relevant tariff percentage appropriate for the Country of Origin. Additionally, the 50p handling charge from Royal Mail would need to be added if they were the chosen courier. Do you think Mr Trump would have any idea how all this could be implemented.
