POS Customer Display Changed Colors

In the middle of the day today our customer display changed colors. The “sign up or check in” button and the “see rewards” button are now gray. They used to be blue.

 

we did not change anything -this just started all of a sudden in the middle of our day

Hi Maya! Oh man, that news is a total bummer and quite disheartening. Even folks with limited color vision, the class the change was supposed to help,  have commented in other threads that this change from color to B&W has actually made things worse. It's apparently awful all around! Since it doesn't appear the team will admit an honest mistake and put things back the way they were, however, I guess the only option is to make  a new Feature Request. How does one make a Feature Request?  Do we just start a new thread and title it "Feature Request: Allow user to choose Color options"  or similar? Or is there a form to fill-out?  Thank you for the additional assistance!! TOV

I have notified Square that their software is not compliant with UK rules on accessibility and that because of the colour changes, if there is any commercial loss because a customer or client cannot see the screen, Square will be asked to meet the loss

Hey @TOV  @SWCMD @cspears, I appreciate your patience.  I’ve gone ahead and moved this thread over to our feature request board. If anything changes, I’ll be sure to keep you all updated. Thanks again for your feedback.

I called Support and complained about this change.  It's really making it difficult to read.  Customers really are not happy.  Support said they will bring it up to Development but nothing so far.  I doubt they will do anything or care.  Whenever this kind of changes are made, they need to have an option for us to keep the old way.  In the middle of the day, things change and no course of undoing does not make any sense!

Hi! New here. Came to complain about the black buttons. They just feel so harsh after the nice blue we were used to. Would love to change colours back. Is this the best place to communicate this to square or is it more for users to talk to one another? Thanks!

Yeah, there are a couple of threads complaining about this head scratching change over the last couple of weeks. You are definitely NOT alone.. A Square moderator kindly checked to see if there was an "opt-out". Apparently not. Not sure if you saw her answer, but in short this was an intentional change by the Square Team to both modernize the look AND to make it easier for those with color vision issues. However, several comments by those in the class this change was supposed to help made it clear it did NOT help and in fact made things worse with the lack of contrast. Since this is a permanent change, we users would now have to make a feature request to ask the Square Team to fix it. I did one last week, but not holding out much hope considering... Sorry not better news. It's too bad we have to make a feature request to get back what wasn't broken when there are so many improvements we'd like to see in Square.   If you want to make your own feature request here is an article I found with some tips.
