I’d love to suggest adding virtual stamp cards as an option within Square Loyalty, alongside the current points-based system.
Stamp cards traditionally work best for service-based businesses (beauty, wellness, personal services), while point-based loyalty is better suited for retail. Paper stamp cards were effective but often lost, so a digital version inside Square would keep everything streamlined and in one ecosystem.
Why this helps service businesses:
- Services are rewarded by visit count, not spend (e.g., “Buy 5 services, get 1 free”)
- Clear milestones with no point conversions
- Less manual work and less client confusion
Suggested functionality:
- Option to choose Points-Based or Stamp-Based (Milestone) loyalty
- 1 virtual stamp per completed appointment
- Rewards unlock at set visit milestones without resetting progress
- Fully compatible with deposit-required appointments (stamp added once entire transaction is completed
- Rewards can be redeemed at checkout even when a deposit was taken—no custom coupons or manual notes
- A new blank card is started once filled
UX ideas:
- Apple & Android tap-in support (Apple Wallet / Google Pay)
- Optional QR or tap-to-check-in
- Visual progress card for clients
- Notifications when clients are close to a reward
- Clear stamp history in the client profile
This would eliminate common loyalty workarounds for service-based sellers while allowing Square’s current points system to continue working well for retail. I love Square and want to keep my entire business fully within the ecosystem—this addition would make Square Loyalty far more flexible and service-friendly.
