Change employee sale attributed to

Our business is a hair salon that operates on commission. Sometimes our employees mis-attribute sales to other people who did not complete the sale. We need a way to edit these transactions and assign them to the correct employee for both accounting and payroll purposes. Because we use Payroll with commission, the employees who did not complete the sale end up getting paid, and the ones who actually made the sale do not. This is unacceptable.

Thank you for jumping in on this thread. Please, let’s keep this post alive and active.

This is such a fundamental need for business owners that it is genuinely surprising Square didn't implement this from the start. Refusing to address a basic requirement like this is the number one reason for churn that I see with the platform. I’m not sure why there seems to be a blind eye toward this issue, but we need to change that.

I am hoping that by gaining more traction and visibility here, the product team will realize the impact this has on our bottom line and finally prioritize a fix.

Keep the comments coming—we need Square to see that this isn't just a "want," it’s a necessity for staying on their platform.

I'm hoping that the new "tip pooling" improvements on the roadmap will help with this @mitin .   I agree, it's 100% needed.

Hi @isabelle Coming up on almost 4 years on this request, is there any update on this?
It would be nice for us sellers to have a window into what is currently in development, this is very basic and every common POS systems have this, so not sure why square is deciding not to allow this. It is a much needed feature, if you or anyone at square can push this, it would be really helpful.

Square Team-  Please make this happen.  This capability is an easy fix and would relieve a lot of headaches at the salons and restaurants.  This fix would also help square to have more subscribers for their Payroll products.  I currently would love to use the payroll product cannot not s I have to manually do commissions and tips since this ability to update the "sale attributed to" has not been resolved.

Please and Thank you,

Dennis

Please resolve this issue.  Ongoing for our salon for 2.5 years. This is why we do not use square payroll as I have to manually do the commisions.

HI @nailboxok

I am honestly surprised that such a basic function—which I hesitate to even call a 'feature'—is not supported by Square. Even the most basic POS systems on the market offer this capability, so it is mind-boggling that Square restricts us in this way without a clear reason. I imagine this oversight is a significant driver of customer churn.

I am experiencing this exact issue: because we cannot edit staff assignments on transactions, I cannot utilize automated payroll. Instead, I am forced to waste hours in Excel manually adjusting payroll and commissions whenever the wrong technician is accidentally assigned.
