Change employee sale attributed to

Our business is a hair salon that operates on commission. Sometimes our employees mis-attribute sales to other people who did not complete the sale. We need a way to edit these transactions and assign them to the correct employee for both accounting and payroll purposes. Because we use Payroll with commission, the employees who did not complete the sale end up getting paid, and the ones who actually made the sale do not. This is unacceptable.

At the end of every month we need to know how much each artist has billed. We can't get that number out of Square.

Reception sends the deposit as an invoice, so the sale is credited to reception instead of the artist doing the work. By month end one reception account holds a large share of our sales, and every artist is short by exactly the deposits taken for them.

Either of these would fix it:

  • A partial payment against the appointment, instead of raising a separate invoice. The artist is already assigned to the appointment, so the sale would land on them.
  • A customer account balance. The deposit sits on the customer's account when paid, credited to nobody, and is applied at checkout on the day, one sale, on the appointment, on the right artist.

Thank you everyone for engaging, 25 Kudos on this, not sure how many more responses we need for someone from Square to even acknowledge or respond.
This has been so frustrating with lack of engagement from Square for their Appointment portfolio.  This is not a ground breaking feature request. This is very basic.
