Cash Rounding

Cash Rounding

People have been asking for the ability to round up hundreds of times, and Square indicates they can't do it, but in Canada, they got rid of the Penny years ago, and Square has a Cash Rounding feature already built into doing this.

It makes no sense that you can't add a feature to the US version allowing a business to round up or down cash sales automatically. Ideally, you could have user-selectable options for rounding - up only or up or down - plus amount to round to 0.05 or 0.10 or 0.25 or $1 rounding. Then, please create an account where this money could be tracked so users could apply it to a charity or an employee fund.

At the very least, let customers in the US turn on the Cash Rounding feature you've already built for Canada.

See this recent article on the Penny - if Square were to make a big announcement about getting rid of the penny, it might move the issue forward. Having my staff have to deal with pennies is a waste of time - please help us get rid of them.

Hey folks! Thank you all for your input on this Feature Request. I'm happy to report that this is now on our roadmap and will be in beta very soon. We'll continue to update this thread as we hear more from our developers. Stay tuned!

Hi folks - I'm the Product lead for payments and we are working on developing cash rounding.

We are doing some testing now and should be ready to launch early next year.

Thanks for all your feedback and patience.

Thanks for letting us know.

The article in the post an hour ago says square enabled cash rounding, but you are saying that it's launching early next year? I am confused.

@DuelingDs it’s currently in a limited beta so they can work out the bugs and figure out how to comply with the different laws across the USA. Unfortunately the laws in the United States aren’t uniform like in other countries like Canada

The next step is for Square to investigate and fix their very very serious customer support problems.  So many people were told by Square support that this feature was not on the radar at all, even very recently.   Support people told us they had never even heard of the problem, and had never heard of anyone requesting the feature!  Are we even getting to talk to support people that work for Square?  Also, why was there no response in these "Feature Requests" forums for so long?   The first 'official' response I saw was a week or so ago, now they announce it for real in a press release.  Why have a forum if Square is rarely looking at it or responding with real information?   Willem Ave, Global Head of Product at Square, said "... There are millions of neighborhood businesses who also have a critical need to maintain smooth operations. They deserve the same level of support, and our job is to make sure they can keep serving their customers without missing a beat.”   I don't think any of us asking for this feature ever received any information or support.  I appreciate that they are enabling the feature, there is no argument about that!, but the lack of communications and transparency is absolutely awful with Square Support.  To Willem Ave:  Find out why your Support is so bad!    I'm not attacking any individuals that work for Square, I have no doubts there are very hard-working and stressed out people doing a good job, but  I've sent in a number problems over 10+ years using Square.  I used to get a response, but not in the last few years.   Usually no response at all for errors I have found.  No updates on the fixes--I just happen to notice the problem has vanished a few months (or years) later, or usually: just continues to be a problem.   I worked with Configuration Mgmt systems for software for 30+ years, and they always had a feature that notified the people involved whenever the problem ticket was moved through the development process.   If you are going to have a Feature Request forum, you need to keep it up to date with accurate information.
