Disabling clock in and out for Salaried Team Members

We have both hourly and salaried staff. It would streamline things if Square did not ask salaried staff to clock in when they log in to register. I know they can click continue without clocking in but they get irritated having to do that throughout the day.

I am using the Square for Retail app, and we have both salaried and hourly employees. We want to use the time tracking feature that square offers through the POS, but it prompts our salaried employees to clock in when they log into the POS, which isn't needed. Is there a way to only prompt clocking in for hourly employees?

Hello @mike109! 

Your salaried employees can accept payments without clocking in. When they go to take payments, they'll should enter their passcode and then should look for the option to "Continue without clocking in". When they select this option they'll be able to accept payments and won't be clocked in.

Thanks @Helen. I did notice that you are given the option to bypass clocking in, but find it a bit of an annoyance that salaried employess are prompted with a modal message to clock in, and this prompt happens every time they enter the passcode and log into the POS. Is there any plans to disable this popup for salaried employees? It's preventing us from using time tracking on the POS currently.

@mike109 Glad you've seen this option already! I do see how it would be useful to be able to disable this for salaried employees and I'll share your interest in this with the Product team.

I'm afraid I don't have a timeline for when this might be available in the app I'm afraid but if that changes in future I'll update this thread. I'll keep an eye out for updates or workarounds for you in the meantime!

Yes this would be an amazing option to have as my wife and I run out store with our employees but want to have the option to log in without clocking ourselves in.

This would be a great addition!  Basically toggle options for all the features that can't be broken by being turned on/off would be great for employers who like advanced customization of their POS tools.

Any update to this. My employees are all salary and it's annoying to  have to "Continue without Clocking in" each time?

Thanks for the request. Definitely see how this can slow the process down for you, and happy to pass this feedback to the team for iteration.  

Right now the clock in/clock out function is all or nothing, so if you have it enabled for a few of your employee but not all, it will require the everyone to use their code.

I also would like to not have to clock in - but have it automatically enter 40h/wk for me to keep reporting (like sales per labor hour) reasonably accurate. Just clicking don't clock in messes up these reports - and trying to remember to clock in and out with my super erratic business owner schedule just isn't working out well.

It's almost like, what's the point of setting up profiles and permissions if they don't reflect each job title.

I only want the feature to be applied to those employees who need to clock-in not all of them.
