Disabling clock in and out for Salaried Team Members

Disabling clock in and out for Salaried Team Members

We have both hourly and salaried staff. It would streamline things if Square did not ask salaried staff to clock in when they log in to register. I know they can click continue without clocking in but they get irritated having to do that throughout the day.

I'd like my p/t manager to clock in/out so I can track hours so I don't mind that it asks her to clock in, but the hours shouldn't override her salary pay status.....This week it wanted to pay her for 9 additional hours, but should have stayed at the average I had already calculated at 25 hours.....really doesn't fit when you call someone a salaried employee and the pay should be the same weekly.  Is there some way around this yet other than t manually adjust the hours back to the average on the payroll side, or are there additional modifications expected for the salary status employees?

Hi and welcome to the Seller Community! 👋

I can see how this is affecting your business and others. This would be considered a feature request at this time, @NoDebtDave.

Im passing this feedback over to the product team so they can look into this.

I have found this feature to be very annoying recently.  I switched my partner to Salary and she has to click do not clock in every time she sells something?  That needs to be fixed

Yes please. We would love to be able to disable clock in/out for salaried employees, but still be able to add them to the schedule

Status changed to: Not currently planned

Hey there, @chuck902 & @Charcuteray -

I stumbled across an older thread from 2017 regarding this topic and moved it over to your post, so our Product Team can see how long our sellers have been requesting this feature.

It's not currently planned by the Product Team, but that doesn't mean it cannot be add in the future (especially seeing the popularity from this previous thread).

When more information becomes available, we will circle back to update the status & keep you in the loop.

Thank you for bringing this to the Ideate Board.

Driving me nuts to have to bypass this all the time and i'm always forgetting to clock out as an owner. Causing me extra work to go back and fix!

Salaried employees should have a way to not clock in.

Square

Hi everyone, thanks for the continued feedback on this use case - we hear you and are taking a closer look at this experience.

For those following this thread, I have a question I would love to hear your thoughts on:

For your salaried employees, do you always include them in your labor cost reporting/calculations or would the option to exclude that information be helpful in certain circumstances?

Currently, for us, it wouldn't matter either way.

i can definitely see the value in being able to sort out hourly vs salaried employees for cost reports, yes. At the moment, our staff is not large enough to necessitate that function (it’s easy enough to do some quick calculations if we just want to look at, for example, cost of part-time or seasonal labor)
