Feature Request: Pause orders via my Square Online website using the Square Point of Sale app

The title of this post has been edited from the original: I'm getting orders in my online store after changing hours to closed.

 

I often have to temporarily close my food cart or change hours.  For now, I am doing this through: Settings > Pickup & Delivery > Hours.   However, I am still receiving orders after changing my hours to "closed" (my poor customers are actually coming to visit my cart and finding out that the cart is closed.  Which does not look good on us at all.....)

 

Is there a better way to change hours for the day?

 

Temporary closure function would be very helpful.

Hi there, @greenecanteen - so sorry for the confusion here. I am referring to the Online Dashboard. Here are the direct steps:

 

1. Log into the Square Dashboard

2. Go to Online Store (this took me to weebly)

3. Click "Settings", then "Checkout". 

4. Toggle switch at top of that page that says "Accept online orders"

Joe, what happened to you? This issue is not resolved and it's been two months since your response on this thread. Either tell us we are crazy and it ain't gonna happen or let us know something is/will happen.

It looks like Joe passed up your suggestion as a feature request but we can't guarantee these will always be implemented.

I too wish there was an option to do this from the Square For Restaurants POS.  It would help tremendously.  I ended up having to pass my weebly creds down to my manager for when I'm not at the restaurant.  I don't like doing that but, the system isn't talking very nicely to the in house POS. 

 

I still cant get tickets to consistently print straight through to the kitchen when an online order is sent through.  We have to manually open the order in the in house POS and push it through.

We are desperately in need of this option as well. Totally support this question. This feature would be an absolute LIFESAVER. 

Exactly. Without a pause new orders option on Square POS itself this will never be able to compete with Uber Pickup or Ritual. I would prefer to use Square but it needs to have this very basic feature. 

Is there a way for staff or servers to do this without them having access to my full dashboard?

@fedfed I am still waiting to hear from Sq on this issue. The silence is deafening! I am currently investigating a different POS in the hopes of getting this feature as a built in! I am also wondering if there is a way (some online ordering already have this option) to let us know when they (customers) are curbside ready for the takeout. Our customers currently need to call us to let us know. Not very nice for them or us! Just need a button they can push to put a signal on the POS screen.

How do We stop Customers from ordering takeout after We close? They are ignoring the pickup time given to them and showing up at the shop after We close. Anyone else having this issue?
