Feature Request - Item Packages / Bundles / Grouping

Feature Request - Item Packages / Bundles / Grouping

I'd like to suggest a feature of Grouping items together into "Packages" so that when I'm selling a client a standard set of items all i need to do is select the package that applies and then if necessary go into that package and modify the item based on if the client wants more or less, or a different variation/modifier on that item

Kind Regards,

Nathan

Re: Feature Request - Item Packages / Bundles / Grouping

Hi Sellers 👋,

We're excited to share that we have recently launched Bundles with Square for Retail Plus!

If you missed it, you can read our announcement here. This feature allows you to combine multiple components into one item bundle and sell those items together while still having the ability to track inventory of the individual components.

This feature is currently available in all regions for Square for Retail Plus sellers. We’ll also be adding this feature for Square Online Plus sellers sometime later in August.

Have a read-through of the linked articles and don't hesitate to reach out to us with any further questions!

It seems the request to have items made from other items and have inventory tracking reflect that has been requested for years now. Is it ever going to happen? It’s the biggest missing feature from my experience.

Hey @Whisky,

Item bundles is a feature we've started work on for Square for Retail Plus. At the moment the feature is limited to bundling items of the same type, however we do plan on expanding functionality here in the future - though I don't have a timeline to share, or whether this will make it to the standard Square Point of Sale or Square for Restaurants.

Hi, @JustRelishing, thanks for touching base with your question!

Are you able to confirm which point of sale software you're currently using (e.g. Square Point of Sale, Square Retail)?

Once we hear back from you, we'll send through the relevant steps!

@JustRelishing,

It sounds like what you're looking for is an item bundles feature, which is a long standing feature request. At the moment I don't have a timeframe on if or when this will be added to Square Point of Sale, however I will copy across some of the workarounds suggested in the feature request thread - I've moved your post to this thread for tracking.

  1. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply an overall discount.
Pro: Allows you to track the inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special.
Con: You would have to ring up the 3-for-$20 special as a separate transaction. Otherwise, the discount will apply to the entire sale.

  2. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply the discount to each of the three items.
Pro: Allows you to track inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special and ring up additional items in a single transaction.
Con: More of a manual process that may increase the length of time to complete a sale.

  3. Create a "3-for-$20 Special" item.
Pro: It's fast and since the price would be locked, you can add it to a sale with other items.
Con: You wouldn't be able to track each individual item within included with the "3-for-$20 Special" item.

Read more about applying discounts here.

This is a feature that we have started to build out for Square for Retail - at the moment it's limited to grouping items of the same type, however we plan to expand this to items of different types in the future.

@JustRelishing if you're wanting to sell individual items at $7 for 1, $14 for 2, $21 for 3 but then $24 for 4 - just add a discount for a specific number (4) and then apply $1 off when that happens. The price change happens automatically when the 4th one is entered. You can set it to '4 or more' as well as exactly 4.

It's a standard discount feature which applies inventory count as well. It's option 2 in Seamus' reply but it's much easier than it sounds (no more of a manual process than selling 4 for $28 so I disagree with his 'con' for that option).

I only sell my items as a bundle. 12 to a tray of item type A. 20 to a tray of item type B. With about a 100 choices of each. This is literally my whole business model, you can't buy items individually. Is there no easy work around?

Hi, @hayeshort, at this time there are no elegant workarounds we're able to offer you other than what's already been shared in this thread.

As soon as we have more news to share, we'll be sure to comment and tag everyone in this thread.

SO 2 years on and packages are still not available Square? The work around posted above is only any good for POS transactions, I want my clients to be able to shop packages online from a selection of my products i also sell individually. Currently I have the package itself as 1 product, but this does not allow for the customisation I require for each item in the package that I need to capture at the point of sale.
