Feature Request: A report that displays the ZIP codes associated with payments

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Having a sales report that shows location of transactions

 

Is it possible in the sales reports to breakdown the sales by location (preferably zip code) if all transactions are done on the same account?

 

Most of our transactions take place at our one store, but sometimes we have transactions done on mobile devices that take place in other cities at farmers markets that we do. In order to calculate sales taxes, which vary by city and county, I would like to be able to see how much of the total monthly sales were done in which locations.

 Is there a way to see a report by customer zip code. We want to know where are customers are coming from and zip code is a required field.

I can't find a way to directly search by customer's zip code, but you can export your customer file to a .CSV file, then sort the data by the zip code.  Navigate to your Customers area from the Dashboard and in the upper right corner of the screen, click the button labeled Import/Export and choose Export Customer Data, then pick whether you want to export All Customers or Specific Groups.  Square will generate your report and then ask you to pick a location where you want the report saved to.  Pick a location and Square will save the report.  Then you can open your favorite spreadsheet program and open the report.

Great suggestion and it does let me export all the customer but no zipcode. We require a zip code through our booking software so this information is available to Square. Is there something we need to do to enable zip code export or zip codes to save with the customer? Thanks

Sorry about that, but when I export the file, it does include the zip code, but the column name is postal code (column L, but it's slightly cut off.)

I do see Postal Code/Zip code. There just is no data. Not sure why my customers have no Postal Codes. 

Have you gone through the entire file to see if any zip codes were exported?  Many of our customers don't have their zips entered in their info, but clearly if they do have them, their codes are exported along with the rest of the data.  If you can't get it figured out, you will need to contact Square's support team: here's how to do that:

Go to Square's support page.

Click “More”

Click "I don't see my issue"

Click "Call Support"

Write down your Customer Code

Call 1  855  700  6000

Is there a way in Square to track  just the zip codes of our customers? Our old POS allowed us to run a zip code report, which was very helpful in determing where our visitors were coming from. We our a tourist desitnation, so knowing this information allows us to be able to direct our advertising dollars to the areas we believe are generating a good ROI. Is this possible with Square?

Hi @MCHSHWPV! We currently don't have a way to automatically store zip codes of customers who make purchases through your Square POS system. But definitely see how that would be helpful for a business who has a lot of out of town visitors coming through.
