Will subsequent transactions by a customer with the same card be automatically associated with them?

We are going to start having parishioners give at church using Square. After  adding a parishioner to an initial transaction, will subsequent transactions with the same card be automatically associated with that parishioner? This is crucial for us as we need to keep track of giving for each parishioner.

Yep, that's correct, @StMarkChurch. Customers are currently identified by the payment card they use, so repeat visits will be automatically associated with the same customer profile, so long as they pay with the same card each time.

 

If they do pay with a different card, or use an other tender option like cash, you'll want to add them to the sale prior to charging, and that will ensure the payment is linked to them.

Thanks for getting back to me! Through my testing, I finally figured that out, but had another question. Why when you download the CSV reports for transactions do the customer names not automatically appear next to their transactions? They're associated in the system - I can see it. The only way I've been able to fix this is to remove them from the transaction and then  re-add them. Only then will the customer name appear in csv report.

That sounds odd, @StMarkChurch. It should be automatically adding the customer to the report each time. The next time you have a transaction where the customer is unlinked, can you contact us directly so a Support team member can take at the transaction, and report the issue accordingly? Appreciate the heads up!
