Why won't the Square Card Reader take a visa PRepaid card?

Can we take prepaided bank cards

If it is a Visa/Master Card/American Express branded Gift card it should work.  I know that I have accepted many visa gift cards.

I have Square Regester, and it will not process any Visa/Master Card/American Express Gift Cards. I have tried swiping, chipping, tapping, and manually entering the numbers.
