I launched my eGift card site and tested it yesterday by purchasing a card. The whole process and confirmation were great and super smooth. When I received the card by email, I was given the option to save it to my phone and/or email address for future redemption (rather than printing or saving the email with the actual 16 digit pin). I did this thinking it was a super cool feature (it is). However, once I logged into Square POS, I realized Customer Management settings have to be adjusted to allow "Charge and Save Cards to Customer Profiles" in order to access the GC account balance. This part kind of scares me. I don't have any untrustworthy employees (knock on wood), but what if someone went in and used someone's stored gift card balance to pay for a transaction? There's no confirmation required or anything. You just click on CHARGE - Customers (Credit and Gift Cards on file) - then pick someone's name. I'd much rather avoid this all together and require the 16 digit pin for all gift card transactions. Is there a way to turn off this option on order confirmations going out to customers? I can turn it off on customer management and require a pin, but the customer may then become frustrated if they tossed the pin while planning to use only their personal info for redemption.
Thanks!
