Simple Inventory Report

HI - I'm looking for a simple inventory report for our CPA.  All they want to know is, as of 12/31/18...what inventory did we have, and how much was our cost for that inventory. Nothing else.  Is this possible?  Thank you

Unfortunately from what I can tell unless you're using Square for Retail there is no way to directly get an inventory cost report from the Square app or Square Register.

 

I've already set up a spreadsheet to track this info at the end of every year. But it is a manual process.

 

Square should at the very least add an "Item cost" field for each item that can be manually updated as needed to the standard app/register systems. That way when inventory is exported totals can be automatically calculated by any spreadsheet program. This is information that's required for tax purposes and doing it manually isn't ideal.

Hi there! Thanks for the question.

 

The base Point of Sale system has general inventory control, but it is not set up to be a full accounting program including your COGS at this time. 

 

We can certainly submit the feature request for you to have an integration like this, and there are inventory control programs that work in tandem with Square that may give you better control of your COGS while utilizing the base POS with Square.

 

Square for Retail, which is more in depth reporting and accounting does has this option available as it's made specifically with retail businesses in mind.  It is a subscription and service, but may be something to look into down the road.
