Selling Gift Certificates to work on two different systems.

We've been getting requests for gift certificates at our business, but I'm struggling to fulfill them in a way that makes sense across our systems.  We have one system that we use to sell tickets for entry (into our studio) and then we use Square for in-person sales for things like printed photos.

Initially, we were getting requests for GCs for tickets, which was easy to do. I would invoice them via square, and when the invoice is paid, I would send them a coupon code for our ticketing platform that would work for the number of tickets they purchased.

Now we are getting requests to include printed products which seems a bit complicated either on my end of the customer's end since our two systems don't talk to each other.

For now, I was thinking I could continue sending an invoice and sending the ticketing coupon and then I can "buy" a gift card that is 100% discounted to send to them for the purchase of the in-person prints.

I'd love to know how others are handling these kinds of requests.

Hi @wallcrawl! Thanks for joining the Seller Community!

I want to make sure I'm understanding what it is you're trying to do.

So you have two POS systems... one Square, and one not Square. Through Square, you're wanting to sell regular gift certificates to your customers? Or are you sending gift certificates as a "reward" for shopping with you? That's the part where I'm getting a bit lost.

If you're wanting to sell regular ol' gift cards, you could use our eGift card option. There's no cost to set them up. Also, giving your customers the ability to purchase eGift cards takes out the middle step of you having to send them an invoice.

What do you think?

Thanks @nika !

Here is a specific scenario.. one of many

I have customers wanting to purchase a gift certificate for a friends upcoming wedding.  They want to buy 2 tickets (which are sold via our ticketing platform) as well as a print package (which is sold in person via Square.)

What I am looking at doing is them an invoice via square for the total cost of the two tickets and the print package.  Once paid, I create a 100% free code for 2 tickets to be redeemed via our ticketing site as well as an egift card (which I "buy myself" at a 100% discount and set them as the recipient") which can be used to redeem their print package once they are in our brick and mortar.

I'm hoping there is a better way.

As far as I can tell, this *should* work perfectly for you:

In your POS app have a new item (or just key in the amount) for your tickets gift card (add the code in the note or just send it after it’s been paid as normal).
Add your Square gift card as if you were selling it Face2Face

When you go to checkout, select the invoice option (if it’s not there then you can turn it on in the settings).

This then puts all the items on one invoice, without you having to do a separate sale with the discount for the gift card side of things.

Hope that makes sense 👍🏻

Thanks for the scenario @wallcrawl! Your checkout flow would definitely work.

But I think @Sam_400º 's suggestion might be more ideal. Especially because you'd be able to keep everything in one place (on the invoice), after subtracting your ticket inventory from your ticketing platform. I would probably take this route!
