Redirect Page in Appointments

One of the features I'm looking for is the ability to redirect my clients to a custom page after they book their appointments. I'm able to do this with scheduleonce but I don't see that option in Square Appointments. Am I missing something?

Thank you

That's not an available feature, but it's a very interesting request! I'll send this over to our Product Team so they're aware of the suggestion.

It's never coming. Do what we've all done and move to Calendly.

Hi all, thank you for your posts here. I certainly hear you and understand that this has been a feature request for Square Appointments for quite some time now.

I reached out to our Product Team to gain more insight. They have confirmed that this is something we do not currently have planned. However, we do have webhooks as part of our public API launch and you can use webhooks to achieve things such as sending clients an email right after they have made the booking.

To learn more about how feature requests work, please see this post from one of our Seller Community Moderators. In the meantime, keep an eye out for any updates, here, in our Seller Community. We appreciate your input! 🙂

@_Violet - With all due respect, if you can read through the developer docs on how to access and use the webhooks functions, and know how to connect that to external services. You are not like the 99.9% of Square's customers.

I've been directed to this as a solution as well in the past and while I am fairly web savvy, I am not a developer and haven't a clue on how to use this. Square seems to be hell-bent on ignoring the requests of customers and decides instead to come out with features and tools that other companies are already dominating or have not even asked for. Smart companies look at what other companies are either not doing or are doing poorly and create solutions that solve those problems. Square is creating tools to solve problems that don't exist.

The icing on the cake was when Square crippled appointments by taking away a vital function (Google calendar sync)  and placing that behind a paywall. A paywall that was way too high compared to what other providers were charging (eg, Calendly), for even more features.

I know you are just trying to do your job and are doing your best to keep engagement here and customers happy. But your superiors are not doing their jobs and providing solutions to problems that customers are having. I have filed numerous feature requests. I have engaged in community/developer discussions. I've even had discussions with product managers at Square through LinkedIn. All of these attempts to reach out have led to nothing.

We are fed up and that is why we are leaving Square.

Ok, for anyone interested and following. This is the official Square supported solution for appointments conversion tracking: They released the Bookings API Beta in Dec 2020 (now officially released) and this makes it possible to take the appointments booking process "in-house" by building your own.

So after working for a year and a half, I've done just that. Take a look: https://beautifulsalon.co/book/services/

It's modeled after Square's own process for an easy transition for our clients, with some tweaks that I consider upgrades.

But most importantly, you can fire any Google Analytics events at any point, or any other tracking code.

If anyone is interested, I am considering the option of taking on projects to deploy this solution for other Square sellers, just message me. Accurate conversion tracking was worth spending my time to build this solution, but I realize that many sellers might not place such a high value. I wish there would have been an easier way, but I hope this helps!

"So after working for a year and a half..."

This statement alone should be a wake up call to square that the current "official" solution is not suitable to +90% of Square's target market.

Looks gorgeous though so kudos to your hard work!

This request has been since 2016 in typical square fashion an idea does not get implemented regardless of how much it makes sense unless they are able to charge you three different ways for it. So its not that square cant code a simple thank you page and charge you extra its that they havent figured out a way to sell it as a bundle

Wow! After reading all of this I am now not sure if I want to move over to square from what I am currently using if they can't make it so you can redirect a customer after purchase when PayPal has been doing it for years.... what is the problem square?? The feature my customers absolutely love is being redirected to the private event group. And square can't do it... this is very disappointing 😞

I also need this feature, without this, it makes it really challenging to track how well my ad campaigns are working.

Hello @AmberGreen ,

I appreciate you reaching out and providing your feedback on this feature request. I understand your concern and do want to assure you we take customer feedback seriously and are always looking for ways to improve our platform. I know it might not seem like based on the lack of movement on this request. We field thousands of feature requests each week here on the Seller Community, and bringing these features to fruition often takes an ample amount of time and effort from our engineers. We want to ensure that our releases are not just surface-level products, but the best all-around resources to help you grow your business.

In an effort to track and streamline requests better, we have changed our feature request process. I did move this entire thread over to our Ideate Board, where we are tracking these now. Again I understand this is frustrating and appreciate your patience while our team continues to track this request. You should feel empowered to do what is best for your business - and we understand that you will.

We used the booking API to create a custom version of our booking system. We did this so that we could track conversions. We have just found out that there is no way to activate No-Show Protection via the booking API. We found this out when we tried to take a no-show payment.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a way around it?

It's incredibly frustrating to see that Square Appointments still lacks a basic redirect or conversion tracking page, a feature that's been requested since 2016. Nine years is an unacceptable amount of time for a "technologically advanced" company to ignore such a fundamental need.

The repeated, canned response of "it's a feature request" is insulting when businesses like mine are trying to optimize our ad spending and understand our customer acquisition. This isn't a niche ask; it's a standard capability that countless other platforms offer.

Frankly, it's starting to feel like Square is intentionally withholding this feature, and that's a serious problem for businesses relying on their platform. Given this blatant disregard for user needs, I'm actively considering switching to a competitor who understands the importance of providing essential marketing tools. This situation is beyond ridiculous.

@MayaP

An update is needed on the customer tracking functionality that was moved to the ideate board. As a business owner, the lack of progress on this essential feature, despite being requested nearly a decade ago, is incredibly frustrating.

This situation is a prime example of a recurring issue where fundamental functionalities are consistently categorized as "feature requests." This forces users to spend valuable time searching forums for solutions and, more importantly, leaves us without any visibility into timelines or a public dashboard for tracking the status of these requests.

From an IT perspective, implementing customer tracking seems to be a straightforward enhancement. The delay in addressing this over such a prolonged period raises concerns about Square's commitment to providing comprehensive sales attribution insights.

As paying customers utilizing Square's platform and processing services, we expect our feedback to lead to tangible improvements. While currently invested in Square, the ongoing absence of critical features like this is prompting me to actively explore alternative solutions that can meet these basic business requirements.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. A clear update on when this functionality will be addressed would be appreciated.

@mitin

Very well said. This is a straightforward request that has been tracking for almost a decade. Square doesn't have to implement every request, but I feel like they at least owe us a rationale for why something like this isn't on the roadmap. By leaving it "Open" forever, they are able to dodge accountability to their customers.

@anniemcg

You absolutely nailed it—accountability is the missing piece here.

It's truly frustrating when a straightforward request, especially one concerning basic functionality, has been open for nearly a decade without any real movement. You're right, Square doesn't need to implement every single suggestion, but it's reasonable to expect a clear explanation or a rationale for why such a long-standing and seemingly essential request isn't on their development roadmap.

The core issue is that these aren't groundbreaking innovations; these are basic, fundamental functions that other platforms readily provide and should be included and available in any reasonable POS system or online system. Leaving these items "open" indefinitely allows them to avoid accountability to their customers, and that's incredibly disappointing. It makes you feel unheard when your practical needs as a business owner are essentially put into a perpetual holding pattern.

Hello @mitin @anniemcg  @GAMSOL, I appreciate your patience while I was out.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I understand how disappointing it is to wait this long for a feature like this. You are absolutely right. This is a standard tool that many businesses rely on to optimize ad spend and measure success.

I also recognize how discouraging it can be not to have updates. While I do not have any new developments to share at this time, your feedback is valid and appreciated. I have shared it with the product team again and will continue to advocate for progress on this feature.

Thanks again, everyone!

I do not mean to be rude, but how is this response any different from the one we have received from square since this request was first made over 9+ years ago?
