Printed Receipts: "Sale" banner now showing on receipt

Suddenly, today, customer receipts are showing the word "sale" against a black background. I can find nowhere in the account receipt settings to remove it. This has never happened before.

This started in a recent update.  I sure hope it goes away as it is causing so much confusion that the customer thinks it means the items are on Sale and Square means it is a Sales receipt.

Hello!I'm sorry for this unexpected change to your printed receipts and I'm looking into this for you now. You're right, there isn't a way to switch this off - I'm sorry about that too.

I take it you're all having to explain this change to your customers?

Thank you @HeatherM! Have your customers noticed or do they find it confusing? It sounds like your receipts are longer as a result too?

Customers noticed it and I noticed it. Same as others, they think the items are suppose to be on "Sale", not that it's a sales receipt.

And yes, the receipts are longer too. Which in the long run would increase my costs by increasing the amount of receipt paper I need to purchase. It's not a huge difference, but it is a difference none the less.

IMHO, anything beyond the basic information on a receipt should be able to be turned off/on by the store owners. And this is one of those extra things things that really isn't needed.

Thanks again everyone for your feedback. The Receipts team is actively working to improve this the 'Sale' message that now appears on printed receipts. However, I haven't had confirmation if you'll be able to disable it from your settings. I know being able to control the information on your receipt is important so I'm checking to see if it's on the roadmap in future.

I'm guessing there was an update over the weekend and now the word "SALE" with a black background appears on customer sales receipts.

That's fine for returns, etc. but it not only looks bad on the receipt, but it's a waste of paper for sales receipts.

How can I remove that from sales receipts?

This is an issue that popped up late last week.  Here's a link to a thread where it's been discussed.  Square is working on fixing the issue, but as far as I've heard, it hasn't been resolved yet.
