Pay using a Credit Card on the Square POS for a Partial Paid Invoice

Why on earth can you no longer use the Point of Sale System to accept a credit card for a created invoice, if the invoice was a partial payment?  We have people who make deposits, which we use the partial pay feature, then come in and pay the balance when picking up the item.  Right now, I have to manually enter in their credit card on the accept payment button, rather than swipe on the POS system?  Seriously, who designed this??

I'm really sorry for the frustration @makeittoobp. You're right, you can't yet use the app to accept the balance of an invoice if your customer has made a partial payment. I understand how important this is for you, and how it would make checkout more efficient.

We operate a campground and lodiging and we use the new "take deposit" feature on the square invoices which is fantastic for what we do....BUT....on our first customer we found out that once a deposit has been taken that you cannot take a card in person to swipe or chip it to take the rest of the payment upon arrival.  The only options that show up are cash/check/other or the indiviual would have needed to pay the balance online with their card before they arrived to check in.  Can anyone tell me if there is a work around here or how to make this scenario work?  We take a 50% deposit at the time of the reservation and then we take the remaining  amount due at the time of check in in person.  A good majority of our check ins will be credit cards in person.

I moved your post here because it looks like this isn't a possibility to take a sale on POS after paying a partial invoice at the moment. There's not a workaround for this either right now but we've let the Invoices team know that this is a struggle so they've been made aware.

@ashc @Helen Please add my voice to those that are finding this a frustration. Please allow in person payments on invoices that have had deposits already paid.

Over the weekend we discovered that the client could not pay their balance in person. We had to make it a seperate charge then go in and say the invoice was paid. Now I worry it will show as a double payment and mess up my bookkeeping. Again, please allow in person payments on invoices that have had deposits paid.
