My customer payment are appearing without the customer name showing up. It comes up as "unknown name"
Sounds like track 1 data (name of the cardholder) isn't being shared with Square. Another reason could be that the Register app you're processing payments on is outdated?
I am very new to Square one and someone else set this all up. How do I enable Track 1 data?
Great question! There is nothing that you need to do to collect track 1 data, if the credit card that your customer is using allows that information to be shared with Square, we will automatically collect it.
@JustRelish suggestion is on the money! The best way to ensure that you can collect track 1 data when it is shared with Square is to make sure that you are running the most up to date version of the app.
