Loyalty rewards by payment type?

The owner of our store would like to apply Loyalty rewards only to purchases using Gift Cards, rather than allowing those paying with credit to accumulate rewards.  Is there a way to modify Loyalty earning criteria by payment method, or another way to offer this?

There isn't a way currently to restrict loyalty reward earnings to only gift card purchases, as the loyalty accounts are tied to the customers phone number. 

Any time the customer makes a purchase, no matter the payment type, once they enter the phone number tied to their loyalty account, they will earn the rewards for that purchase.
