The title of this thread has been edited from the original: card reader identification
I have two square card readers for two different businesses. How can I tell which is which?
Thank you
Card readers are not tied to a particular business or account. You can use either reader with either business without any conflict.

I have two readers and one Iphone. They way you tell the readers apart is that each reader has a 4 digit assigned number to it (i.e. 5234, etc) so I have written on the reader the number assigned to it as well as the business name it represents so that I can keep them apart when doing separate transactions.
Oh, I forgot to mention this, you will find the four numbers that identify each reader on your Bluetooth list under the System app on your Iphone. Make sure the correct reader that corresponds with the correct business are connected
The answer given does not help with the question above, which I also have. I have two readers in different locations, I would like to know how to track transactions on each.
Hi there, @Judith007! So sorry for the confusion here.
Are you curious on how to determine which sales are for a specific location, for reporting purposes? If so, you may want to check out this resource on Device Management by Location.
Let me know if that is helpful! I want to make sure this gets resolved for you.
I've got 2 LLCs. Can I have my magstripe reader point to the correct biz And its corresponding bank account?
Hey @Karl_SG,
I moved your post to an existing thread that goes over how readers are universal and not tied to accounts.
It'll work with whatever account you're logged into on the app.
Thx, Ashley! That did the trick!

you can actually change the name on your readers
Take a sharpie and write each business' name on each.
That is not what I meant. Each one of them is about 30 miles in separation. What I meant was how can I figure the amount that each reader is doing in transactions in the square dashboard. But thank you for your tip. ;))
Hello @Judith007
You can track your transactions by adding multiple locations in your Square Dashboard. Take a look at this article with more details on how you can do this. Once you have set up your locations, you will be able to run a transaction report for that specific location.
Thank you I will look at the information
