I’m researching Kitchen Display Systems for our restaurant, which uses a combination of Square Registers iPad apps for the PoS. I know of Flash Order KDS and Fresh KDS, but neither meets our expectations.
I need to build out a KDS that allows for “open tickets” including caterings, call-in/pick-up orders, as well as DoorDash direct-integrated orders. In addition, Fresh KDS IT support is unhelpful and difficult to contact or find a phone number for, which is proving to be a major obstacle in this endeavor.
My KDS needs include at least three touchscreens that are not screen mirrored, with a minimum of 18” screen size. I don’t care which OS the KDS runs on, as long as it works.
Now I hear about PreOrder, which is an official Square Partner and seems to offer all these things. Has anyone had experience with this small, young company? Supposedly they offer website support, online ordering and integrations, a mobile app, PoS, AND a KDS all for $50/month. Is Square ever going to offer their own KDS, so we don’t have to use PreOrder or a similar service to “inform” Square PoS?
I could really use some pointers here. This has not been a simple project, although literally everything else about Square we have loved to use and contact them about.
