How to stop Register from asking for business name and birthday

I recently purchased a Square Register. Overall, I'm quite happy with it, but I'd be happier if I could figure out how to delete the Where Do You Work and What Is Your Birthday fields from the client entry screen. I have turned off both items in the dashboard under Configure Profiles, logged out and in again, as well as rebooted the device, and it still has both entry fields. How do I get rid of them?

Hi @glyph - A few things come to mind, but you might need to call our Customer Success team to have them troubleshoot this with you. 

 

1. Make sure you're signed in to the same account on both your Dashboard (when making changes) and Register. We sometimes see people create a second account so changes on your Dashboard wouldn't be reflected in the device you're using.

2. It might need some time to sync between devices (however, it sounds like you tried to force a sync taking the steps you took below).

I was never successful at getting the company name and customer birthday field to not show up on my Square Register, so I stopped allowing customer data input directly (support was not able to help). I got an email today touting the new configurability possible in collecting profile information, so with optimism I gave it another shot.

 

Despite having the fields turned off in my dashboard (actually set to invisible), they are still showing up on the customer display. I'm not seeing any of the touted "enhancement."

 

I have hopes of someday using my customer information for marketing via Square, once they implement more sophisticated email campaign monitoring and metrics on par with MailChimp.

 

FWIW, I've logged out and in, rebooted, and confirmed that my Register software is up to date.

Thank you so much for the feedback! This functionality is not currently available on the Android platforms, but our Product team is aware of the request and tracking it for the future. This is why you are able to deactivate it on the Dashboard, but it doesn't impact your views in the Register itself.

 

If you were using an iOS based product, this customization would be disabled in the Directory. We have passed this request to the team, and feature requests like this drive change. Thanks again for flagging this for us.

OK. Since it is a feature being actively promoted, you might want to put an asterisk somewhere to let those of us with Square Register know that it doesn't apply to us. I looked over the documentation extensively and probably wasted 20 minutes trying to get it to work after receiving the promotional email from Square about the feature. 😉
