How do you sell items at wholesale discount and not charge customer sales tax?

I sell items both retail (online and in person) to consumers, and wholesale to retail outlets.  I use the same inventory for both.  I charge sales tax to my consumer customers, but not to my wholesale customers.

I know I can put in a discount for my wholesale customers to bring the price down, but it still charges them sales tax.  Is there a way to create a wholesale invoice that give them a discount and no add sales tax, without having to maintain a completely sseparate inventory list?  I don't want to have to create two versions of every product in my catalog.

you can remove the tax from any transaction.

  1. From the Square app, tap Current Sale and tap an item.
  2. Under Taxes, toggle applicable tax rates on or off.

OR: From the Sale screen, you can also tap Tax to view all tax rates applied to the current sale. Tap the red minus icon to remove a tax rate from applicable items within the sale.

Also you can add multiple price points to the item and choose the coreect price based on the customer.  that way both price points pull from the same inventory.
