How do I checkout using the Square if I am doing it on a computer?

I’m thinking of getting Square Appointments at my hair salon, and I want to get an iMac. How do you check your client out on the computer? Do we still have to use the iPad?

Interesting question! I have never thought of this, being that its an application... I'm sorry I cannot be of any help here 😕 Though I'm sure someone has an answer.

Thanks for your interest @Luett4! Just to clarify it's not possible to check out from Square Appointments on a computer at this time. To checkout you'd need to either download the Appointments app to either an iPhone or iPad. The Appointments app isn't supported on Android devices yet.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. Question 2: when we check out on the iPad, do we have to log into our individual accounts every time? Or is it hooked together so we don’t have to login every time? Thank you!

Although you can't check out an Appointment without the iOS device, you could process a card payment just through your Dashboard on any computer.

This won't allow most functionality though. No inventory tracking, no item selection, no customer association, etc. You'd just be able to enter a dollar amount. You'd also pay a higher transaction fee (3.5% + 10 cents currently, I believe, but don't quote me on that).
