Hi, thanks for reading.
I recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, and was wondering if the contactless chip/EMV/NFC reader will be compatible with it.
I did look into it using the "Compatibility Finder" and noticed that the Note 7 was unlisted. For that reason, I decided to make this thread. I'm assuming that so far, the Note 7 has not been tested, and therefore not made compatible just yet, although, it is an Android device running the latest version of Marshmallow(6.0.1). If this is the case then I wanted to make it known to Square that this is Samsungs most popular phone right now, and it is very important that it be made compatible ASAP!
I had another question as well that I figured I'd ask here, rather than making an entirely new thread. Regardless of possible incompatibility, I just purchased the Wireless Reader for $1/day for 60 days. Will this dollar simply be subtracted from my weekly deposits? Or will Square actually attempt to subtract the $1 from my bank account? If it comes out of my weekly deposits, that is fine, but I actually have a savings account linked with my Square, so I don't think they'll actually be able to subtract funds from there. Regardless, the transaction went through, and supposedly my reader will be here in 5-10 business days. This is a tad confusing. Is the $1 going to come out of my weekly "deposits" from Square? Or will Square (attempt to) withdraw the $1 from my savings account?
@AceRyan - Happy to follow up. While I don't have any official word on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 compatibility, you are right - it does appear to meet the basic requirements for the Square Contactless and Chip Card Reader. You'd probably need to test it out to know for sure. Also, it's possible someone else in the community has already had a chance to test it out (feel free to chime in). 😀
As for your second question, the installments will be deducted weekly from your linked bank account. Since a savings account is a transactional type of account, there shouldn't be an issue making these withdraws.
Hope this helps!
