Future Item Sales Report

Is there a report or a need (besides mine) to see the current Gross value of items already inventoried in total and by categories?  I like to think positively and to forecast estimated gross value of products ready to sell would be interesting. Seems relatively easy in format, which would basically multiply item numbers by the amount of items, either in whole (all items available to be sold) or by categories. Just curious.
