Capturing Credit Card Info but not charging the card

Is there a way to set up square to capture the credit card info but not charge the card?  I sell from a website and do not have standard shipping as I charge what the post office charges for shipping so I need to capture the credit card info and then adjust what will be charged to include the shipping.   I don't care about not getting the CVV code as once I inform the customer the total including shipping I get that and their authorization for the updated cost.

@PlanelySpeaking A search of Square’s help pages and of other threads on this board tells me that what you are requesting is not (yet) available on Square.  Square authorizes transactions in real time, and transaction information can not be changed, except for restaurants/bars who can add a tip before closing the check.

Given that, I only see a couple of options for you right now:

  1. Send the customer a separate invoice for just the shipping costs once your have determined those, and have the customer pay that invoice online.
  2. IF your website was built with and uses the Square online store, you could just set it up for Square to retrieve the shipping costs from USPS.  You’d need to do some setup, including specifying the sizes of your shipping containers.  But this would have the benefit of giving your customers the true shipping cost.  Do this at Dashboard -> Online -> Fulfillment -> Shipping.  You can even setup item-level shipping rates, if you want.
