Can a customer who has already paid an invoice cancel payment

Technically, yes. They can cancel the payment by contesting the charge with their card issuer. This will trigger a chargeback with Square, and Square will reach out to you for more information. It isn't an automatic withdrawal of the funds from your account, but don't be surprised if Square holds those funds while the dispute is happening.
There isn't a way for them to cancel a payment otherwise as far as I know.
