Can I remove a category from the Category Links on my web page...

I created a number of categories specifically for the holidays and now want to remove those category links (the list on the left side of any category page) from my site; however, when I do that it *deletes* the category from my *online store*, which I don't want - I just don't want it displayed until the next holiday season.  For example, I no longer want to include Holiday Gnomes for sale and have marked all the items as unavailable...so with the category link remaining, customers see this:

That doesn't present the best customer experience.

Is there a way to just remove the link from the website category list or am I going to have to recreate all the holiday categories and re-assign all the applicable items every year?

Thanks.

HI, to follow best business practice is definitely Seller decision.

No, the category can not be hidden, it would display as your screenshot.

Hidden option would still have active listings available to purchase and can be found by customers due to SEO.  Not an option due to seasonal items.

Out of Stock would work BUT, then manually update stock within each item.

Out of Stock would keep your items SEO intact BUT still visible on the site.

You could create a category Holiday or Holiday 2021, Seasonal or Seasonal (Out of Stock) which includes all the Out of Stock inventory which would still keep items on the site and keep SEO.

Best advice, Out of Stock.

Hope This Helps!

Thanks, Terri, appreciate your thoughts. I think where I've landed (if this helps anyone else) is to actually create an umbrella category that all the other seasonal categories will go under; that way customers are only seeing *one* "unavailable" category and will hopefully surmise that the associated items are only available during the holidays.

Again, thank you for the response.
