I use the auto-assign ticket number option and haven't had any problems with it until lately. Every so often, for no apparent reason, the register will not assign a number but instead print the word "Order" on top of the ticket. I have re-booted my iPad (2Gen), unchecked and re-checked the "auto-assign ticket numbers" box, but with no success.
Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear about the trouble.
When this happens, how is your internet connectivity? This could potentially be caused by your device data or wifi connection dropping out and immediately returning while the order is being placed.
Also, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?
If you don't have any pending or uncaptured payments, try uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that helps.

I have the same issue and sometimes it takes a day to come back to full working. I don't think our internet is the issue but since I use the Square register, I cannot reinstall any software on that device. Do you suggest anything else to make this keep working?
I have the same issue and its a huge pain. I tell my cashier to switch to manual ticket assigning and manually run through numbers like thg auto-assign does.
Since you're using the Square Register, I would suggest giving our Customer Success Hardware team a call and see if they additional troubleshooting steps you can do to get this working correctly again.
