โœจ Welcome + Introduce Yourself

You made it! Welcome to Squareโ€™s togetHER community ๐Ÿ™Œ

Our purpose is for you to find connection, advice, encouragement, and community with fellow women in business and allies. This community is built for and by you, so make it your own.

First step: Introduce yourself in this thread! We want to get to know each and everyone one of you here. Stuck on how you should introduce yourself to other lady bosses? Here are some things to cover: Tell us who you are, what youโ€™re working on and what type of business you own. If you have an online store, feel free to share with the group!

Our guiding principles

We all want productive, friendly conversation propelling us forward. Keep these in mind when posting:

  • Share actionable information/material. We want this group to provide advice and actions that you can implement immediately to improve your business. Give context when asking questions and be detailed in your responses. Post about the difficult things so we can figure out an answer together as a community.
  • Assume good intent. Tone on the internet is very difficult to convey. Letโ€™s assume that everyone posting here comes from a place of good intention, so we can do the same. If anything feels amiss, please report it to our moderators.
  • Treat your fellow sellers with respect. We all come from different backgrounds and may not always agree with one another, but we can always treat each other with respect. We have a zero tolerance policy for harassment or abuse of sellers or moderators because this should be a happy place on the internet.
  • No spam or excessive self promotion. Weโ€™ve all seen those groups with the same people posting the same thing every single day. Letโ€™s respect each otherโ€™s time and refrain from this type of excessive self promotion. But, by all means, when itโ€™s time to celebrate you, shout that accomplishment from the rooftops!

Canโ€™t wait to see your posts and celebrate you! ๐ŸŽ‰

Hi all. My name is Jessica and I'm originally from southern California but live now in rural north eastern south dakota. Up here is where I met my now hubby. We have 4 fur babies. 2 dogs and 2 cats. We are both disabled. So to help with expenses disability doesnt cover I turned to my crafting skills. I make one of a kind bead jewelry in many styles from gemstone to the tiniest of seed beads. I also now make diffuser jewelry for the big move to natural remedies of essential oil use. I do also make a few roller blend essential oils. That's just fun though lol.  Being in rural area its challenging but it's nice here as well.  This new community sounds like it could become an awesome place to chat and such.Mr. PebblesMr. Pebbles

Yes Katieand, I am so busy with preparations. Getting my models to be measured. Sourcing fabrics, and helping a new Designer who will be experiencing her first show. Sketching designs, then I have to draft my pattern designs. Busy is not the word๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ. My fabric just came in from Hong Kong. So excited this is for the finale piece. Which will be a Wedding Gown.

I can definitely get behind sugar @sugarmamma ๐Ÿ˜‚ I was just near Ghirardelli Square and tried some of their walnut brittle in white chocolate yesterday. It was divine. Do you have any favorite flavors?

Hi! My name is Kathy, and I run Horse 'n' Round Studio, purveyor of fiber arts and chainmail armor. I have sheep of my own and sell fleeces, roving, and yarn from my own and other local shepherds (sheep, goats, alpaca), and work to educate people on the benefits of natural fibers and real animal husbandry, both modern and historical. I also create finished fiber wearables, both ready-made and on commission, teach, host craft nights, and sell at various events around the Pacific Northwest.

In my "free" time (ha-ha-ha), I'm a freelance editor, proofreader, closed-captioner, and transcriptionist.

Hey @Horsenround - thanks for sharing more about your business! My personal favorite of the fleece producing animals are alpacas. I think they're so cute and make the warmest fleece.

Here's a close up of an alpaca on one of my favorite farms:

I love alpacas! I lost one of my 2 horses last fall (she was a 26yo draft horse), and while my remaining horse is doing OK as an "only child," I'm still sort of considering getting her a pasture buddy, like a llama. However, I also recently read an article about the rise of camels on hobby farms. A Bactrian camel would be an amazing draw, and produces lovely fiber, too. They are just expensive!

A camel would be so interesting! I traveled to Jordan last year and took my first (and probably last) camel ride. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Alpacas are next on my list for our homestead.  I also would like to raise yak, but haven't dug in too deep on their fiber quality.
