I have an ice cream brand and just opened a second location. This is a new EIN but exactly same model, etc. I wanted to open it within my existing square account so that loyalty and gift cards could be used at each location. I’ve managed this all fine.
But my issue is with payroll. How do I separate it so that each set of employees are paid from the correct business/EIN and the taxes are done correct for each business. Or is there no way to do this? Do I get a separate payroll company to manage this new set of employees outside of square?

Currently, Square Payroll does not support multiple EINs within a single Square account, even when you have multiple locations set up. Once tax filings have been submitted under an EIN, that identifier cannot be changed for your account.
Since your second location operates under a new EIN, you'll need to create a separate Square account specifically for payroll management at that location. This will ensure that each set of employees is paid correctly and that tax filings are properly associated with the correct EIN.
