If an employee works 2 different positions - 1 is tip eligible and the second is not, what is the best way to handle that for payroll purposes?
Ideally, they would be able to select what role they are working in when they punch in so the system knows whether or not they should receive tips for that day.
Hi, @BSkiesCreamery !
This is a great question. I'm going to outline below how to do this. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Create Two Job Titles (Roles)
Go to your Team Management settings.
Create separate job titles for each position
Assign Both Roles to the Employee
Under the employee’s profile, assign both job titles so they can choose between them at clock-in.
Enable Role Selection at Clock-In
Make sure role selection is turned on in your time tracking settings.
This allows the employee to select which role they're working each time they clock in on the POS or Team App.
Set Tip Eligibility by Role
Run Payroll Based on Timecards
When running payroll, Square will use the timecards (including which role was selected) to apply the correct wage, tax settings, and tip inclusion
I hope this helps!
