redeem ecard with email?

I sell ecards on my website for our restaurant. When the customer clicks on the "gift card" button it takes them to the square site to purchase an ecard. When they come in to dine and then pay using this ecard most give us the 16 digit code that is provided and we have no problems. However, a few have stated that once they have purchased the ecard it states that they can redeem by the 16 digit code, or an email address, or even a phone number (I think). However, once our ticket is entered and you hit the charge button, the only option is the button that says "manual gift card entry". Once you hit that button there is only an option for a 16 digit code. How are we supposed to enter in an email or phone number to retrieve this ecard? Thanks.

Thanks for surfacing this, @gc1. I think I know what may be happening—as you check out, you'll want to select the "Credit and Gift Cards on File" option.
