transactions

I am looking at individual transactions because i have a customer who paid by credit card.  When i click on each individual transaction, sometimes the credit card holder name is shown, sometimes not, and sometimes it is listed as unknown.  Anybody know why Square would not read and record the credit card hnamve for every transaction?

That information is passed on a per credit card basis.  Not every credit card has the settings to pass the customer data on to the Business.  There isn't anything Square can do to get the data if it isn't passed on by the card.
