A client needs to split the payment of an invoice onto two of his credit cards. How do I process this?
Hey @Jae - Unfortunately, there isn't a way to split payments on an Invoice. Short term, you could potentially send two Invoices in the amounts he wants to put on each card. Long term, the ability to do partial payments on an Invoice is currently in the works.
@puka It's been well over a year and I know there are several other threads regarding this. Any idea on when we'll see this? Particularly split payments on invoices and being able to take a card in person on the balance of an invoice.

Our "Request Deposits" feature would allow you to split the payment of an invoice and also give your customers the option to pay with different cards.

@nika Thanks but there's a problem with that which has been covered in a couple other threads.
If you take a deposit the option to use a card for the balance is not there, you are given a 'share the link' option which is really a lot more steps and pretty inconvenient if the customer is right in front of you with a card. For the life of me I can't understand why Square, who makes its money on processing, removes this option!!

The only workaround is to take the split payments as if it were a sale happening right then, which you can do on the Square POS and then mark the invoice paid by Square but ONLY on the PC dashboard (another baffling nuisance). And of course that could mess up the cash/check/card totals at the end of the day. As you can see, a whole lot of other steps to end up with a still imperfect end result.
